Viewing the small town world around him with a critical eye didn't help. But his travels and interest that found their way onto paper and hardboard show he enjoyed the diversity of life. A farmer and carpenter with six sons and a daughter living in the first half of the 20th century it's a wonder he ever took the time to pick up a brush and pencil.
